Betsson Casino is the second A+ licence holder I have examined, after Ladbrokes. The name is new in Belgium, the site is not: this is the former betFIRST, renamed in autumn 2026, and its licence rests on the casino in Middelkerke.
I read its terms and conditions, its privacy and cookie policies, its responsible gambling page, the game rules and its help centre, then checked all of it against the Belgian Gaming Commission’s register. The result puts it in the same tier as most of the licensed online casinos in Belgium I have compared, with clear strengths and two clauses that weigh heavily.

Seventy-seven points: one fewer than Ladbrokes, the other A+ operator in my ranking. What separates them is not the game library but how each one treats a player who wants to complain.
How I checked Betsson Casino
No account opened, no stake placed: my work covers what the operator publishes, nothing more. I read its documents, compare them with each other and then with the official register. When two sources disagree, that becomes a finding.
Documents reread on 20 October 2026: terms and conditions (version 2.2 of 28 September 2026), privacy policy (version 1.5) and cookie policy (version 1.3), both dated 22 September, the responsible gambling page, the game rules, the help centre, the site footer and the game pages open without logging in. I also launched a game in demo mode without creating an account.
Every operator goes through the same grid, and the other results sit among the casino audits already published.
Betsson Casino takes over from betFIRST: what changes for players
For a former betFIRST customer, the change is first a matter of name. The help centre says it plainly: betFIRST is now Betsson. The English home page even introduces itself as ‘previously betFIRST’.
The real change of contract is older. Article 4.7 of the terms explains that the casino services offered under the betFIRST brand by B&M NV were transferred on 29 January 2024 to Exploitatie Casino Middelkerke. Since then, the player’s gaming contract has been with that company, and accepting the current terms acknowledges it.
What the new brand adds shows mostly in the live casino: a lounge of Betsson-branded tables, supplied by Pragmatic Play, sits alongside the usual tables. The licence has not changed, and it is the licence that allows such tables, as I explain on the page about live casino games with a real dealer.
Betsson Casino on the register: licence A+595153
The A+ licence register lists http://www.betssoncasino.be under file 595153. The establishment is named ‘Casino Middelkerke x Betsson’, and the holder is Exploitatie Casino Middelkerke NV.
The decision is dated 22 February 2024, and the licence runs until 22 February 2039. Publication is dated 20 October 2023, four months before the decision. I draw no conclusion from that gap: the register gives dates, it does not explain what they mean.
The site footer shows two numbers, A595153 and A+595153, meaning the land-based casino licence and its online extension. It also gives the holding company’s enterprise number and its share capital of €27,069,140.
A licence in Middelkerke and a site run from Malta
The terms themselves describe who does what, and they do it more clearly than I have seen elsewhere.

Details noted on 20 October 2026 from the official register and articles 3 and 4 of the terms and conditions.
Exploitatie Casino Middelkerke provides the gambling services and bears sole responsibility for them. FiveoSeven Platform Solutions, a Maltese company in the Betsson group, runs the site and its platforms. A third company, based in Brussels, acts as the holder of a class E licence for the games. The first two also share the processing of personal data as joint controllers.
One detail all the same: article 22.4 assigns the rights to the site’s content to ‘Betsson Services Limited’, an entity that appears nowhere else in the terms. Several companies behind a single brand is common in Belgium; a fourth company name dropped in passing deserves a sentence of explanation.
Betsson Casino withdrawal time: processing within 24 hours
Here Betsson gives what several operators do not: a time for each payment method. The help centre states that requests are processed within 24 hours at most, after which the arrival time depends on the method chosen.

The minimum withdrawal is €20. Article 9.3 of the terms sets the maximum at €50,000 per 24-hour period and says the money goes back, in principle, to the method used to deposit. Beyond 25 approved withdrawals in the same calendar month, each further request may cost 2 per cent, with a minimum of €5.
PayPal and Paysafecard both appear in the list of withdrawal methods. For Paysafecard that is rare: among the operators I had examined, only Ladbrokes reopened it for payouts, as my record of the casinos that accept Paysafecard shows. What a deposit withdrawn without being played costs
Article 9.3 sets a rule found elsewhere too: each deposit must have been staked once, in full, before it can be withdrawn.
If you ask for a withdrawal before that, Betsson may ask you to stake the remaining balance or charge you a fee. Its amount is written nowhere in the terms.
That is the difference with the way PlayOne handles it, which puts that deduction at 15 per cent. There, players know what they risk before they click; at Betsson, they cannot work it out.
The other charges are stated in figures: 10 per cent for each duplicate account, with a minimum of €30, and €50 for each of the two reminders sent after a chargeback if the player’s identity or payment method cannot be confirmed.
Recent documents that contradict each other in places
All three legal texts are dated and versioned, and they were revised at the end of September 2026, at the time of the rebrand. That is a good point, and it makes the remaining gaps all the more visible.
The cookie policy says it applies ‘to the website betssonsports.be’, although it is published on betssoncasino.be. The footer pairs the Gaming Commission’s logo with a reference to the Federal Public Service Justice, whereas the Commission has come under the Federal Public Service Economy since 1 June 2026.
Above all, the help centre does not match from one section to the next. Neosurf is paid ‘immediately’ in the answer on timings, yet is missing from the list of withdrawal methods. Visa and Mastercard cards are given a timing without appearing in that list, while Paysafecard is in the list with no timing. Opening hours vary too: 9am to 10pm for chat and email, 9am to 8pm for callbacks, 8.45am to 8pm for the phone line.
Finally, article 26.2 states that only the French version of the terms is legally binding. The text says so openly, and it is worth knowing for anyone reading in English: the version in front of them is a translation.
Security and personal data
Two companies share responsibility for personal data: FiveoSeven and Exploitatie Casino Middelkerke, as joint controllers. The privacy policy gives a dedicated address for the data protection officer, dataprivacy@betssongroup.com, and promises a reply to requests within 30 days.
Retention periods are not given in figures. The text lists criteria and the categories kept for longer, such as self-exclusions or anti-money-laundering records, then refers readers to the privacy team for details.
The supervisory authority named is Malta’s. The right to complain in one’s country of residence is mentioned, but Belgium’s Data Protection Authority is not named. As with the other operators, this score rests on reading the policies, not on a technical test.
Game information at Betsson Casino
This is the criterion where Betsson scores full marks. The library can be browsed without an account, with a filter by provider. Every game shows its return-to-player rate, and demo mode works without logging in: I opened Sweet Bonanza Pop that way, with no login at all. Each game’s rules, paytable included, open from the icon provided for that purpose.
The A+ licence explains the live dealer tables. The site also keeps a dice games section, with categories such as AirDice or Infinity Dice, next to the slots and table games.
As for promotions, the home page showed no offer tied to registration when I read it, but prize-pool tournaments and a cashback wheel. The game rules also contain ‘general terms for rewards’: wagering requirements that vary by game, 30 days of validity, one person per household or IP address.
The tools that protect players
The €200 weekly limit applies by default, and the page specifies that it applies per site. Raising it requires a check by the Commission against the Central Individual Credit Register, and only takes effect after 72 hours. A decrease is immediate.
Self-exclusion is set from the account, for a fixed period of 24 hours to three months, and the account reactivates on its own when the period ends. For a wider block, the page explains the EPIS exclusion request to the Commission, including the one a relative can file.
It also lists sixteen useful contacts, from SOS Gambling to the gambling clinic at Brugmann University Hospital, and offers a self-assessment test. Limits other than on deposits are missing: nothing on losses or session length. The protections Belgian law imposes on every operator remain the common baseline.
Disputes: six months to complain and a mediator at the end
The procedure is described: customer service first, then escalation to csmanagement@betsson.com, with a reply announced within ten days, extendable by ten more if the investigation requires it.
Two clauses weigh on the score. A complaint about a transaction must be filed within six months, otherwise it is not considered, and the decision that follows is presented as final. The external route offered next is the Consumer Mediation Service, with no contact details. The Gaming Commission, although defined in the terms, is never named as a point of contact in a dispute.
That is the reverse of what I had read at Ladbrokes, which refers players to the regulator with its address and email. The competent courts are those of Liège, although the licence holder is based in Middelkerke.

The kind of player who fits here
It suits players looking for real dealer tables and a library they can inspect before signing up, rates and demos included. It also suits anyone who wants to withdraw to PayPal, Skrill or Neteller with a time stated in advance.
It suits less well those who often withdraw a deposit without playing it, since the charges are unknown, and those who might need to dispute an old transaction. After six months, the door closes.
My Betsson Casino review: the verdict
Seventy-seven out of a hundred, Dependable tier, one point behind Ladbrokes.
With two A+ holders examined, the pattern holds: the licence opens the way to live tables, it says nothing about the quality of the documents. Betsson is flawless on game information and precise on withdrawal times. On the other hand, it limits disputes to six months and never points players to the Gaming Commission.
These are corrections of a few lines. Until they are made, they keep Betsson at a distance from the operators at the top of my ranking of trusted online casinos.
