An itsme casino is not a separate category in Belgium: the eight operators I have audited all offer sign-up through the app. The real difference lies in what they write around the button, and in what itsme does not do for you.
I went back through their sign-up pages, help centres and terms. itsme confirms your identity and your address in one go, but your bank account is proved separately, and the app plays no part in any deposit.
Casino with itsme: what the eight audited sites say
They all accept itsme. What changes is where the button sits, what the site promises and what it still asks for afterwards. The full scores and the method are in my audit files.

It is the only one of the eight to make itsme the default way in: the page shows the itsme button first and tucks the other methods behind a link to further sign-up options.
Worth knowing: the page promises automatic verification, with no form to fill in.
Transparency: four of these buttons, for PlayOne, Fortuna, Ladbrokes and Oria, carry an affiliate code, so opening an account after clicking one may earn me a commission. That commission has no bearing on the ranking, which follows the audit scores alone. Golden Palace, BeCasino, Betsson and Madison lead straight to the operator. My scoring method.
What itsme checks for a casino and what it leaves out
At sign-up, itsme passes the casino data that was already certified when you activated the app, through your bank or your ID card. The app lists the data requested and the name of the recipient; nothing is shared until you confirm.

The last two rows are the ones that surprise people. An account opened with itsme is cleared to deposit and play, not yet to cash out.
One operator’s figures. In September 2020 the CEO of Napoleon Games presented two months of itsme use for BAGO, the Belgian operators’ federation: a third of verified players had chosen it, but around 39 per cent of those using it failed the check, 95 per cent of the time because of an expired ID card. His conclusion: itsme does not replace the EPIS check. The figures are six years old and come from an operator I have not audited; they are still the most precise I have found.
Registering with itsme? Three rules vary by site
The timing. At PlayOne, itsme is only offered when the account is opened. If you are unsure, decide before you start: an account created by hand stays on the document route.
The entry conditions. Fortuna and Oria reserve the itsme route for Belgian residents who already have an itsme account. Without it, your passport or national register number becomes essential.
The data check. At Betsson, itsme fills in part of the form, but it is up to you to check that everything is right before confirming.
Verifying your account with itsme: the bank account stays separate
Many people type that exact question. With itsme, identity and address are confirmed straight after sign-up, which matters since verification has had to come before the first deposit, a rule in force since 1 May 2025.
The bank account takes another path: it must be in your name, and the operator checks it separately, usually at the first withdrawal request. What that check requires, and why it sometimes holds up a payment, is set out in my overview of ID verification at Belgian casinos.
If getting paid quickly is the goal, that bank check matters more than the way you sign up. Announced timeframes and what the terms actually allow are compared for the Belgian casinos that pay out fastest.
And for deposits? The money takes another route
Several comparison sites write that itsme is used to approve deposits. At the eight operators I have audited, that is not the case: itsme comes in at sign-up, and money moves through Bancontact, a prepaid card or an e-wallet.
The confusion is understandable: itsme can also confirm payments for services that have built it in. If the app ever asks you to approve a payment, the request comes from that service, your bank for instance, and not from the casino’s verification. What each site accepts is detailed in the record of accepted payment methods.
What you need before using itsme at a casino
Four things, and most players already have them:
- the itsme app, installed and activated with your ID card or through your bank;
- a smartphone to confirm, or a computer with your phone within reach;
- an address in Belgium, required in black and white at Fortuna and Oria;
- a bank account in your name, for the day you withdraw.
The manual route stays open everywhere, just slower: without itsme, document verification can take up to 24 hours. Either way, stick to legal online casinos in Belgium: they alone are subject to these checks.
One last precaution: itsme does not ask you by email to verify your account. If a message in a casino’s name asks you to, spotting a fake casino message takes a minute.
Special cases when you sign up with itsme
I opened my account without itsme: can I use it afterwards?
Not at PlayOne, whose help page limits the option to the first sign-up. The other operators I have audited say nothing about it in their documents: the safest course is to ask customer support before sending your documents.
The casino still asks me for a document after itsme: is that normal?
Yes, it can happen. Betsson’s terms reserve the right to request further confirmations, and the bank account is checked separately in any case. In the usage figures presented in 2020 for the operators’ federation BAGO, 95 per cent of failed itsme checks came down to an expired ID card.
I have moved house: will itsme pass on the right address?
Not necessarily. The same presentation found that itsme data was not up to date after a card expired or an address changed. The app shows the address before each share: if it is out of date, do not confirm and use the manual route.
Does the casino receive my bank details through itsme?
No. It receives the identity data you agree to share, and the app shows which before you confirm. The casino checks your bank account by its own means.
